Water-Chi ® ™ Background
In the late 1970’s, Watsu emerged at Harbin Hot Springs, Middletown, California, a peaceful naturist community. Watsu is a tranquil form of water relaxation that combines a series of gentle movements as you are held in warm water. Emma lived in the San Francisco Bay Area until 2005, before moving to Arizona. She first learned about Watsu in 1996, while visiting Harbin. Emma transformed this thirty year old water relaxing experience, and developed a system to stimulate the Chi, (life-force, inner-self) in the water element. Combining her knowledge in martial arts (Bok-fu Kenpo & Kung Fu) to the Water Feel, she developed a brand new water art form she first named Watzhu. In the Summer of 2007, she renamed her brain child, Water-Chi ® ™, a union of the two words, Water and Chi to symbolize the merging of water and inner-self, the essence of life force.
Water-Chi ® ™ is the newest generation of water art form that offers precise techniques. Each move has been carefully developed to intensify a physical and emotional experience that creates an acute sense of Chi expansion.
Water-Chi ® ™ is a new form of physical and emotional art practiced in warm water, it interweaves movement and stillness. Practitioner is in constant tune to the needs of each individual experience and nothing can quite prepare you for this exhilarating water art form and Chi Awareness* (see details below).
Water-Chi ® ™ 's gentle Kung-Fu stretches have a healing and spiritual effect on the body and mind. The buoyancy and support of the water allow the spinal column to be moved in ways that aren't possible on land. It feels detoxifying, re-energizing after just one session..
Water-Chi ® ™ may help relieve a variety of problems including fibromyalgia, back pain, neck and shoulder problems, stress, insomnia, digestive problems, ADHD, sexual disorder and fatigue. It improves body flexibility dramatically, even in one session! For instance, without any pain and effort, you will be stretched in ways that aren’t possible with conventional yoga techniques.
What is Chi Awareness*?
Chi or Kinesthetic Awareness through Waterfeel Movement is beneficial in that it helps regain consciousness of our motor and even social skills, attain rhythm and also it assists in cognitive and emotional growth.
For instance, Emma developed her own Chi awareness largely through martial art. The primary goal of the beginning martial artist is the attainment of perfect exercise form. Body building, ice staking, baseball and so many more sports, also help develop chi awareness, and of course Water-Chi ® ™ .
Chi Awareness through movement helps to develop social skills, and helps enable persons to attain organizational skills as well as improve communication through thought processes and movement. In addition, Chi Awareness through movement helps individuals to be more receptive and perceptive to sensory feedback acquired through hearing, touch and visual fields. In doing so, it develops a higher emotional intelligence enabling more focused movements.
In Chi Awareness through movement, the gestures or body language are more intentional and geared toward outward expression of the inner self.
Chi Negative or Kinesthesia may be caused by stress. Test yourself!
We all experience it at different levels. It is a well-known fact that we can repress the experience of our emotions, and we achieve such repression in part, kinesthetically. For instance, emotional repression is enacted through a chronic tensing of certain muscles. Muscles get mobilized to express the emotion. Overtime, we become aware of our body language and learn to hide it from others.
Emotional repression, then, always results in some degree of Chi repression. Chi Negative or Kinesthesia can also be repressed directly, in the form of bodily alienation (and a result of this will also be a lower level of emotional awareness).
What happens to us when we experience Chi repression in other words, repress our emotions?
The result is what we see around us: sedentary lifestyle, obesity, fatigue, enough gastrointestinal discomfort to support a thriving antacid industry, chronic body pains in much of the middle-aged population, and high rates of death from heart disease, cancer, alcohol, cigarette and drug abuses. It also gravely affects our relationship with our loved ones, lowers self-esteem, lowers sex life. Sadly, it also is a great contributor to divorces and domestic violence. A Chi Negative means damage is being made to inner-self, the soul. The envelope (body) reflects the image of its current condition through physical illness, symptoms and emotional discord.

Water-Chi ® ™ Technical Art Form
With your Guide’s assistance, you float weightless, in a heated salt water pool comfortably while your muscles are relaxing, your joints mobilized, tissues stretched, energy pathways opened, and your whole body is moved throughout the water.
The buoyancy and support of the water allow the spinal column to be moved in ways that aren't possible on land. Waterfeel moves are very delicate and precise. A Water-Chi ® ™ Artist requires excellent balance and spatial awareness so that in turns your experience is blissful. As a Water-Chi ® ™ Master, Emma can easily lift a person weighing over 500 lbs! This is due in part to the Water element and, her own Chi expansion.
